The following factors may affect final tree system/kit selection:
  SITE LOCATION
Where are the trees to be planted?

What is the site's exposure to winds and heavy rainfall?

Is there good accessibility to the tree planting area?

Has an anchor test been completed?

  SOIL CONDITIONS
Is the site consolidated?

Have large amounts of top soil been brought in to create planting areas or changes in the profile of the landscape?

Does the site contain rubble
and broken concrete?

Has any landfill been done on the site?

    TREE SIZES
Is there accurate information regarding the overall height, and circumference of the tree 1m from the rootball?

What size sail area do the trees have?

Are the trees coniferous or deciduous?

  ROOT STRUCTURE
Are the trees properly rootwrapped and of sufficient strength and proportion to support underground guying? If so, an underground fixing system can be applied.

Are the trees container grown? If so, using the 'Plati-Mat' will not damage the fibrous roots associated with containerised trees.

Does the stem move within its rootball or container?

If pushed and the stem moves while the 'ball' does not then the tree cannot be underground guyed with confidence. There is insufficient strength of current rootgrowth. Consider above ground guying. Suggest 'G' or 'CG' systems.

    BURIED SERVICES
Has the planting area been checked for all underground services, such as drains, water, gas, electricity or fibre optic/telecom cables?

Buried Services are normally identified within 600mm of the surface. Generally, the rootball depths will exceed this. Certainly, the specified pit depths associated with the sizes of trees we guy should identify any services.

If services are known to be present, recommend alternative systems for guying. Suggest dead-man options from our 'specialist' range.

Existing site drawings are normally able to identify buried services. Sophisticated 'Cat' scanners are also extremely accurate. If in doubt, however, suggest an alternative method.
