| The wires and
tendon are manufactured in high tensile carbon steel to British Standard
BS302/Din 3055 or 3060 and are hot dip galvanised. This coating provides
a corrosion resistance on the wire tendon for up to five years. For the same diameter and construction, galvanised steel wire tendon is significantly stronger than stainless steel wire tendon. |

| The herringbone construction in this type of wire tendon creates larger voids between the strands which enable deep impregnation of polyethylene, locking the cover and preventing stripping. It also reduces capillary action of water entering the wire tendon if damage to the covering penetrates through to the steel wires. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Stainless
steel has superior corrosion resistance to carbon steel. Grade 316 stainless steel has the best corrosion resistance of all the standard stainless steels in most environments at normal temperatures, and is the only grade used for our wire tendons. Its life expectancy is dependant on the wire tendon construction and specific local environmental conditions. |
